What is a good fall color for me?

In the beginning of the fall season many people always ask me about the fall hair color trends.   The most common question at season change is "what is the seasonal color?".  I always give general feedback first, then I will ask you a question that 99.9% have an answer for... "What color were you thinking of?".  My reason for that is because there are so many style apps on our devices, most of us have pictures downloaded as "hair inspo".  People always want my professional opinion first, as if I will have a different idea to change their look.  Or perhaps, revamp their current look.  There are thousands of styles and options to wear your hair different, however I truly believe it depends on the persons daily lifestyle and condition of the hair.

So, when I finally decide to discuss the actual current seasonal color with you, my answer is again different for everyone.  Maybe you are the rule breaker and like to go lighter in the fall and stay dark in the summer.  Perhaps, you have light skin tone and want the contrast and love darker hair.  For some of us like me, I stay away from lightening my base color so that it blends in with my skin tone.  It is always nice to carry dimension in the hair so it doesn't look flat and appears to have movement and texture.  I am an artist and when I paint or work on graphic design, the rules and laws of color are the same for hair color.  Layer the color to create depth for perception.

If you are the one to change your color by season, which happens to be so rewarding to have the option to, go with a color that is low maintenance and that can be easily changed back to your summer color.  One of my biggest pet peeves is when I have a new client and they don't know what the last color in their hair was.  Whether it was the technique or the products used, always keep a good eye on what's happening to your hair in the salon.  That way, if you happen to change stylists, you can let them know your hair history, which prevents damage and breakage to the hair.
